Overview
Moray Art Centre is a small but beautiful exhibition centre promoting a wide range of artists and also offers classes within its workshops. It is a hidden gem situated in the Findhorn Foundation and is well worth a visit if you find yourself in the area. On the day I visited there was an exhibition called Landmarks featuring work by the artist Jonathan Shearer; I love the way he captured the Scottish landscapes and mountains and the Centre's calm atmosphere emphasised the dramatic feel.
Transport & Parking
There is plenty of parking available onsite, it is generally quite quiet so there should be no problem parking next to the venue. If that is full, there is ample parking just behind it. There are buses travelling to Findhorn from Inverness, Aberdeen and points in between but there would be a 4 to 5 minute walk to the Art Centre from the main road.
Access
There is great access throughout the venue. The path from the car park is flat and this leads to a wide manual entrance door. There is always staff about in case any help is required and in my case, they have been happy to assist. The corridors are very wide with plenty of room to manoeuvre giving a good view of the art work which is also displayed in the reception area and corridor. The exhibition room is accessed via a wide door which has a disabled access button. There is ample room within this room to spin round and view the works.
Toilets
It was clean and spacious with grab rails but I could not see a red cord.
Staff
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The woman dealing with myself went out of her way to ensure that I had a very positive experience.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would recommend this to anyone interested in art who is visiting Findhorn Foundation. It's the perfect place to go if you are in the mood to see something different and the whole light and space of the venue really adds to the experience. I will definitely be back.
