Overview
Perfectly accessible with just 2 very minor areas hard to see into Helpful staff Good facilities Fully recommended
Transport & Parking
Bus stop directly outside the attraction Well signed blue badge parking next to the building entailing just 3 short rolls/ steps on tightly impacted gravel to the pathway. Free Parking for all visitors
Access
excellent signage and well thought out smooth pathways all around low gradient ramps to the marmoset enclosure with large windows at wheelchair height for easy viewing Glassed in 'walls' for the meerkats and some areas of the primates allowing full view. Very narrow gravelled area next to the primate enclosures not restricting viewing at all with ramps to the higher viewing areas All on one level with a slight hill to some enclosures, in particular the birds of prey, smooth path and able to manage alone with a manual wheelchair. One primate enclosure (Squirrel monkeys) inaccessible due to gravel approach Small fishpond with carp too high to see into for wheelchair user Many benches for those that need to stop and rest excellent information at every enclosure with a history of each inhabitant at a good height and angle in an easy to understand format with illustrations and pictures.
Toilets
large dedicated toilet with separate baby change facilities elsewhere no RADAR key entry. Excellent signage and ramped entrance Wide doorway Plenty of handrails, both fixed and pull down Well placed mirror Easily reached sink Very clean and well kept
Staff
Great, friendly welcome Concessionary tickets for carers Door from cashier desk to attraction not automatic but a member of staff immediately opened it without needing to be asked. Staff always on hand to help if required and to give information about the animals in their care
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There are many talks throughout the day about the different animals. Talks given in clear, concise and easy to understand language at each relevant enclosure. Cafe has level access and plenty of room to manoeuvre a wheelchair or scooter. Plenty of accessible seating inside and out Large children's play area with cushioned ground and with the ability for parents/guardians to easily see inside from the perimeter Shop has manual door but plenty of room to get around and view items. Counter top low enough for wheelchair users. Manual door to exit. Fully recommend and would visit time and time again
