Craftivism with Modern Art Oxford
“Craftivism encourages craftsters to engage with activism in our own quiet way, sometimes the quieter the revolution, the louder it’s heard” – Sarah Corbett
In response to Hannah Ryggen’s thought provoking tapestry activism join Sarah Corbett, founder of the Craftivist Collective, for a celebratory and forward thinking textile workshop.
Session 1
12-1pm, £5 per child (free for parents/carers)
The first session is designed for children ages 7+ and their parents or carers. Participants are invited to create a string of ‘solidarity bunting’, playing with colour and stitch whilst reflecting on the situations of others.
Session 2
2-4pm, £5 per person
The second session, aimed at young people and adults (14+), will start with an informal talk about the Craftivist method of ‘gentle protest.’ There will then be an opportunity to make ‘mini banners’ as a way of thinking and creating together.
