Overview
I didn't expect to be able to travel on the Thames River Bus as water and wheelchairs usually don't mix well together! It was great to find I could get on board with my powerchair.
Transport & Parking
As a form of transport the River Bus is great and the piers are well placed for accessing other forms of transport.
Access
My experience of the River Bus was really good and I found the whole experience really good. The ticket office was fine and explained how the ticketing works, stewards pointed us in the right direction and we went down a ramp to a holding point to await the boat. When the boat came alongside people got off and then we were shown the ramp and helped to board. It's a curved ramp that is fairly easy to negotiate. Once on board it was easy to get around and find a good space to sit. There is a small threshold to the doorway into the cabin area but no more than a small kerb would be.
Toilets
The larger vessels also have a separate accessible loo on board which is really good.
Staff
Top marks to the staff as everyone we met was really helpful and made our journey easy and stress free.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Would definitely recommend the Thames Clippers to get around if you are travelling to points along the river. It was much easier than I expected and it's also a great way to see some of the sights of London.
