Overview
As of today Mary’s hasn’t opened up inside yet so you queued along the pavement and ordered from outside the door. This made me feel very safe as this was my first trip out since August. The card reader was wiped down between uses, the hand sanitiser was in a prominent position and a they have a sign up asking people to wear masks. Over all I felt very confident getting my ice cream and heading off to hide in the car to eat it.
Transport & Parking
We got there by car as this is the easiest transport method for us. The parking in the grass market can be a bit of a nightmare and with only 1 disabled bay it’s a flip of the coin as to whether it is free or not. That said there are lots of spaces and they tend to free up on a regular basis as most people are passing through.
Access
Currently the shop isn’t open so you just roll to the door and they pass you your ice cream. Once the shop opens next week there is a tiny step into the milk bar which is easily conquered by wheelchairs. In the shop it can be a little hard to manoeuvre if it’s busy but Mary and the staff are great at keeping an eye out for anyone who might need help and giving it.
Toilets
There are no customer toilets on the premises
Staff
The staff are wonderful. They are all very cheerful and chatty. Anytime my wife has had any issues getting about in her powerchair they are straight there to help her. Once when the queue was away up the stairs of a nearby close they saw my wife waiting off to the side for me to get back into street level and brought the menu out to her so she could choose her own flavours.
