Overview

This is a new M&S Foodhall, situated on the Leeds Road in the stunning 'Happy' Spa town of Harrogate, North Yorkshire. A spacious layout on ground floor level, making it easily accessible for wheelchair users. Attached to the Foodhall is an M&S Café, which provides a great selection of sandwiches and cakes as well as hot and cold drinks. All facilities are clean and well maintained, the staff are warm and friendly and are very helpful.

Transport & Parking

There are designated disabled parking spaces situated directly outside the building. Next to the parking is a trolley bay which is accessible by wheelchair and provides wheelchair trolleys that attach for convenience. There is a bus stop outside the building on the Leeds Road, a regular service (No 36 stops here), there is a pedestrian access from the bus stop leading to the building, this is also wide enough for wheelchairs to access.

Access

The building is fully accessible on ground floor level, with no steps and a ramp to the side for wheelchairs/pushchairs. The doors leading into the building are automatic. There was excellent signage guiding customers to the café and toilet facilities, also the in store customer services desk, there were staff on hand for assistance if required. In the café there was an induction loop clearly indicated at the café till, there are disabled priority seating at a couple of tables in the café, with sufficient space, these are located close to the till area and leading to the main Foodhall shopping area.

Toilets

A spacious disabled toilet can be accessed in the main Foodhall shopping area a short distance from the café, signposted clearly. It has adequate space for carers and wheelchairs, it was very clean and tidy and well stocked. The facility had grab rails around the toilet (one drop down rail on the right side) and sink area, a pull cord for assistance if required was clearly visible to the left of the toilet. The low sink enabled easy access with lever action taps for ease of use.

Staff

All the staff were very friendly, were always polite and helpful. They took the time to chat and assist with any questions.

I would definitely visit the M&S Foodhall again and recommend it to others it was a pleasant shopping experience, the facilities were clean and fresh. The products sold were of great quality and standard. It had excellent access throughout the building, into the café, and toilets.
