Overview
A good place for wheelchair users to go shopping, but the lifts signage is terrible, as so often with M&S.
Transport & Parking
Epsom Station is nearby, fully step-free, equipped with ramps, friendly staff. There's a large car-park nearby too.
Access
Access into and around the shop is excellent BUT the lift signage is terrible. If you want to get from the food hall to the other two floors, there are two lifts in the food hall, but they have no signage on them. We took one of them, and were surprised and dismayed to find that it was rammed nearly full of packing crates. Even more surprising, when we got to the first floor we discovered we had arrived in a warehouse area. Two cheeky and snippy lads in the warehouse area told us rudely that we had used the 'wrong' lift, it was a goods lift, we should have used the customer lift. Well, we would have done if there had been any signage telling us that it was a goods lift only. I was not pleased with their rude manner.
Toilets
I used only the accessible toilet attached to the 1st-floor café. Very good, except that the soap and paper-towel dispensers are placed much too high up for most wheelchair users.
Staff
All the staff are delightful, helpful, friendly, and five stars for everyone except the snippy lads who told us rudely that we had used the 'wrong' lift.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The Bakewell Tart in the café is magnificent. The café is one of the quietest cafés I have ever been in. Lots of customers, nobody talking - spooky and a bit disconcerting. M&S please put some signage on the goods lifts in the food hall, telling customers not to use them, and telling customers where the real customer lifts are. If you do that, and if you lower the paper towel and soap dispensers in the accessible toilets, I'll convert this immediately to a five-star review.
