Overview

A totally wheelchair accessible hotel and therapy centre offering barrier free holidays for disabled and able-bodied guests travelling totally alone or within groups. A vast range of equipment and care/medical staff available for hire in a relaxed and smart environment, with super friendly staff. Absolutely unique and totally fantastic!

Transport & Parking

Travelling in to and out of Tenerife airport we were met by a dedicated airport staff member who facilitated our total journey from plane to transport and the reverse, pushing the manual wheelchair. Our transport was via LERO wheelchair accessible coach (which is based at Mar y Sol Hotel but available to anyone) again the driver loaded both cases and our wheelchair from the arrivals lounge in to the hotel. The accessible coach is also available for taxi services or for days out to popular venues carrying disabled and able bodies guests.

Access

Within Mar y Sol hotel all facilities are completely accessible by wheelchair. There are a range of 1 bed apartments, rooms and studios with a complementary choice of toilet/shower chair pre delivered to the location. Lifts are huge and have voice announcements at each floor. There are three swimming pools one heated to 90 degrees with a choice of two different hoists for access and a dedicated lifeguard who will help lift clients from pool to chair via the hoists. One pool is for therapies in particular with physios etc. In the restaurant there is a huge range of dishes many with health in mind (and champagne!) all accessible by wheelchair and waiters will accompany guests to load plates or bring food/drink on request. Further staff are available to hire on site should guests need help with eating or personal care. The LERO shop on site allows for hire of a vast range of equipment from power wheelchairs to hoists and pool floats, incontinence garments etc.

Toilets

On booking at Marysol a choice of toilet chair suitable to individual needs is available within the price and photos are also available to help make the choice. The LERO facility on site also offers the hire of electric or manual hoists. Personal helpers and trained medical staff are also available for hire should guests need specific help with personal care, even if managing very serious disabilities.

Staff

From the moment of arrival, staff are very helpful and respectful. A member of staff will accompany guests to the room with bags and check that everything that is needed is in place and then another staff member will ring shortly afterwards asking if they can help with any extra equipment, much of it free, such as a kettle, extra cutlery, a fan. Nothing seems too much trouble. One day each week guests are also invited to a cocktail party and very senior staff are present, very welcoming and happy to offer suggestions, advice or help on accessible venues to visit.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The Marysol complex is privately owned and created by a Mr Fisher who's wife had Multiple Sclerosis. He still lives on the complex and has an insiders view on the needs of people with complex disabilities and their families too. In addition to being accessible, the amazing Teralava therapy suite which offers everything from massages to rose petal baths on the rooftop (!) really allows both people with disabilities and their friends and family feel extra special and welcome. The LERO facility on site adds an extra sense of reassurance that any need can be catered for. In addition Los Christianos has a wonderful accessible promenade and accessible beach with wonderful lifeguards who happliy take anyone witha disability out for a swim in total safety on beach/sea wheelchairs. Amazing!!
