Overview
This is an old industrial building which now houses an architectural association in Poitiers with exhibition space. I saw the free 'Bauhaus.photo' exhibition here celebrating 100 years of Bauhaus. It documented lots of photos of life at Bauhaus, architecture , design and portraits of the students and iconic lecturers such as Gropius, Klee and Kandinsky plus a few original chairs by le Corbusier and Mies Van Der Rohe were there. It felt almost surreal to be looking at the original Bauhaus pieces which we've all seen copies of but none match up to the Wassily chair here complete with worn leather!
Transport & Parking
There are lots of on-street disabled spaces in the town centre which is just a short walk away. There are also buses to the town centre but I don't know if they're accessible and there is a train station but it is a fair uphill walk up from it; I think you could get the bus up though if it was accessible.
Access
There is a sloping lip at the front door but I managed it fine and there is a very wide manual door which was already open when I visited. There is lots of room to wheel around the exhibition; it was very accessible and I could see almost all of the photos; they were at a good height. There was also a couple of films to watch on headphones but my French wasn't up to that standard (yet):)
Toilets
I didn't see any toilets if there were any and apart from a woman working in the office, I didn't see any staff to ask.
Staff
The only staff member I saw was busy working in her office and we didn't see any other staff around. It just wasn't the kind of place where you would expect to see any staff standing around; there's lots of info explaining the photos and it seems more of a working venue that you can just wander into.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This was an unexpected hidden delight I just came upon wandering through Poitiers; if this exhibition is still on go; the chairs in particular are well worth seeing. I'd love to come back to see what else they had to offer in future exhibitions. Sorry, I tried to upload photos but was unable to so here's a link instead https://www.google.com/search?q=maison+de+l%27architecture+poitiers&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjkvPGo4oTkAhXPSxUIHee6BJsQ_AUIEigC&biw=1164&bih=568
