Overview
A place very famous in Whitby, wheelchair accessible with friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommended.
Transport & Parking
The usual parking at the station is in a tight space which is difficult to manoeuvre in and the 2 disabled bays are quickly taken. However, there is a long row of blue badge-only parking on the street where the Magpie Cafe is - perfect!
Access
The restaurant is on 2 upper floors and the lift is inside the take-away fish and chips part of the building. The lift was a little tricky today and failed to work at first but the staff are on to it.
Toilets
We were on level 2 where the accessible toilet was so clean and well-equipped. The doors open automatically at the push of a button. The only reason it doesn't get a perfect score is because the mirror is at a standing height rather than being full length.
Staff
We had a very helpful and friendly waitress called Becky. All the waiting staff appeared to be very friendly - they work very long hours but seem well-trained with great attitudes to the public.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
....and the fish and chips is so fresh and delicious. The menu is extremely varied - ie. there are many different types of fish to choose from. We had children's portions despite being quite a bit older than that category.
