This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Autism
Overview
The macrobert arts centre is very accessible to people with disabilities. All the spaces are wheelchair accessible. Even backstage and getting on to the stage is accessible. You can go on the stage via a locked door which goes through to backstage, you can go through the prompt side door to get on stage or you can go on stage via a stage door beside the auditorium. The macrobert has relaxed screenings for people with hypersensitivity and autism. They also have an 18+ drama group for people with disabilities and additional support needs.
Transport & Parking
They only have 2 disabled parking spaces outside the building and they are not monitored very well as blue badge holders are not always parked in them.
Access
There are no steps to get into the building. There are steps to get to upper floors but there is also a lift. There is a hearing loop at the tickets and information desk. There is also a hearing loop in the auditorium .
Toilets
There are 2 accessible loos. I think if it was your first time here it would hard to find them as they are behind a curved notice board. They are the same inside but in reverse so the hand rail on right is on the left in the other toilet. The soap dispenser and toilet roll holder and hand dryer are in way of the hand rail so you bash your head off them. The toilets are sometimes clean.
Staff
The staff are very helpful and friendly. They know me very well.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I love this place I can't stop wanting to go back.
