Overview

Rothes Football Club is a senior football club who play in the Highland Football League. They play at Mackessack Park in Rothes, a small town near Elgin in Moray. They play in tangerine shirts, colours they inherited from Dundee United after purchasing the floodlights from Tannadice Park. Rothes have won the Highland League once Mackessack Park is named after one Douglas Mackessack, a local laird and whisky magnate and an early benefactor of the club. It was a nice day so we decided to visit Mackessack Park, we parked above the ground but to my surprise, Rothes football club must be the only Highland League Club in existence to have a private car park. There was a slope down to the car park but this is manageable. I got in for free which is class/ wheelchair users get in for noting. We were not told where wheelchair users should sit which is disappointing as there is usually a member of staff who tells wheelchair users where to sit. We finally decided to sit in the main stand. It was a good view and highly recommended.

Transport & Parking

3.5

The nearest train station to Mackessack Park is Elgin Train station (15 minutes away from Mackessack Park). The nearest bus stop to Mackessack Park is 5 minutes away from Mackessack Park. However, we took the car and there is a huge car park beside the ground with a few disabled car parking spaces.

Access

4.5

The access to the ground is pretty good and well thought out. You go through the turnstile and there is a smooth cement path to the main stand where wheelchair users should sit.

Toilets

0

I looked but I couldn't find a disabled toilet.

Staff

2.5

They didn't do much.
