Overview
Lovely Garden Centre, open plan ground floor layout. A good range of Jellycats, toys, gifts, indoor and outdoor plants to browse. An attractive, comfortable, warm revamped restaurant area with a good variety of dishes on the menu, including vegetarian and vegan options with allergens clearly identified on the menu. Food is mostly very well prepared and presented, including a wonderful selection of cakes and desserts. You can get breakfast, lunch and tea options, sandwiches / paninis, main meals, specials, soups and a carvery on specific days of the week etc. Customer toilets available including an accessible toilet. Toilets are satisfactory maintained, clean and fresh. I would definitely visit again and recommend the garden centre to others.
Transport & Parking
Good amount of disabled / accessible parking spaces with sufficient space either side to get a wheelchair out of the car and open doors wider.
Access
Garden centre is all on the ground floor so there’s no lift or steps but some of the paths & tiles from the outside area are uneven and there is a steep incline slope to get inside the main part of the garden centre, these may be difficult and hard work to push yourself with a manual wheelchair. Sliding automatic sensor doors to move around the garden centre and outside into the car park. Due to roof leaks there’s often buckets of water dotted around the garden centre to catch the water so this might at times cause an obstruction to wheelchair users or prevent you getting everywhere you want to around the garden centre. Garden centre is open plan with good floor space but some aisles can be too narrow like around the toy section and paths are occasionally obstructed with water buckets or building support poles as photographed in a previous review. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with room to move around, the door to one side of the restaurant is not automatic but the area near the tills is open plan and doesn’t have any doors to entry, you can also go round that way past the tills into the area that has a door through an archway instead. The drinks fridge is low to the ground and wheelchair accessible, the counter tops are high where the cakes are stored but the till has a lower paying desk at a reasonable height for a wheelchair user. There is no seating around the garden centre apart from seated garden benches that are on sale, but the restaurant has a large amount of seating in 2 sections with an outdoor seating area as well. This is situated about half way round the open plan garden centre near the indoor plant and toy section.
