Overview

We had lunch in this large restaurant which is part of The Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel. It is open to non residents. Note that at the time of writing the restaurant is only open from Thursdays to Sundays.

Transport & Parking

The car park is quite large and tarmaced which makes it easy to use a wheelchair or rollator. However the only indicator of blue badge parking is a small sign on the wall - so small we did not even see it at first. (See photo 2). There are no marked bays and no cross hatching to allow access at the side for a wheelchair. I believe the wedding venue, which is in a different area, has standard blue badge spaces. At the restaurant it is possible to drop someone off under cover beside the main entrance.

Access

The main doors are automatic which makes entry with a wheelchair very easy. There is a long, gentle carpeted ramp up to restaurant level. This is at the end of the reception area shown in my picture (the one with the tartan carpet). From this level there is another gentle ramp (hard surface) which goes down into the restaurant. I found it easy to push a chair on both. The restaurant itself is very spacious. I think tables have been removed to allow for distancing.

Toilets

The accessible toilet is back in reception. It is very well lit and has a drop down grab rail on one side and a fixed one on the other. The red cord does not quite go to the floor. Entry is via a sliding door which is quite heavy but which I find easier than maneuvering a chair around an awkwardly opening door. There is plenty of room for a wheelchair and assistant. This toilet is also the baby change.

Staff

All very pleasant. Particular thanks to the young man who answered the phone and dashed off to check the accessible toilet so he could answer my questions about it before we booked for lunch.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

There was a one way system in place (though of course ramp users could not use it.) Sanitiser was available. It appeared that tables had been removed to ensure there was plenty of space. There is a wonderful view of Loch Lomond and Luss pier from the restaurant - and most tables would have a view, even if they were not exactly by the window. My photograph does not do it justice as it was a gloomy day, but have a look at Colquhoun's own website. The prices reflect the position on the loch and there is an (optional) 10% service charge added to the bill.
