Overview

Nice campsite, with flat pitches, wardens who were thoughtful with allocating pitches. They also asked for feedback for improvements which impressed me. Efforts have been made by the owners to improve accessibility with ramp access to office and washing up area. The toilet and shower for guests with restricted mobility was just about big enough. Was clean, and regularly checked. Was fine for folks who can do standing transfers, others with more restricted mobility than us may have found it a problem. There was a shower stool provided, but no curtain or rails, making it both difficult (and wet) for carer and wobbly for wheelchair user. The overall most difficult thing was the accessible facilities were in an offshoot of the lounge - which was locked 8pm to 8am. I did say to the wardens that this was unacceptable, and they said they would pass on my feedback. It'll be interesting to see if anything changes. *Update* So.... The lovely owner caught us before we left, to chat about making improvements to the access. He has already made arrangements so that access to the toilet and shower will be 24h from now on. This is a great result, well done Lochranza Campsite for being so responsive!
