This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Powerchair, Mobility Scooter
Overview
I'm a powerchair user who uses this station regularly to get to work amongst other things. It has all the usual retail outlets and facilities you might expect to find at a major train station including a large Wetherspoons . All have step free access.
Transport & Parking
Access
All of the facilities have step free access. All 3 entrances to the station are step free. Some photos make it look like the front entrance has a lot of steps. So it does, but there is also a wide, shallow ramp that zig zags its way up those steps.
Toilets
There are three wheelchair accessible toilets, all RADAR key operated, at the left hand side of the concourse as you face the platforms. The first, which is directly on the concourse is relatively small and supports left - to - right transfers. The second, which is close to the ladies' loo, is roomier and supports right - to - left transfers. The third is in the entrance to the Wetherspoons. It's fine but I do find the door a bit heavily sprung for a wheelchair user. (1 star lost because, like all railway loos, they're not exactly luxurious.)
Staff
I have always found the Customer Assistance staff extremely friendly and helpful. The staff at the Customer Information Desk will let them know you need assistance. There is a dedicated area for you to wait while they arrive.
