Well-equipped train station
Visit date:
Overview
This is a handy train station good for travelling to Edinburgh, Glasgow or Stirling. It is particularly well equipped for visually-impaired passengers with tactile and Braille features as well as loud, clear audio announcements.
Transport & Parking
This train station is a bit fiddly to get to due to the nature of Linlithgow's town centre itself. The car parks are quite small, but there are frequent buses along Linlithgow's high street.
Access
There is lift access to both platforms and a low, wide ramp (indoors!) beneath the railway line. There is a fantastic large tactile map with Braille directions beside the ticket office which describes access around the station, including the locations of ticket machines, toilets etc. The stairs all have bright yellow edging as well, and there are very clear, loud audio announcements as each train is about to arrive.
Toilets
I didn't use the toilets on this visit, however the accessible toilet key can be collected behind the ticket office.
Staff
I didn't interact with any staff on this visit as I prefer to use the ticket machines.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Colourful, friendly little station that offers something a little more than the generic stations you normally find!
