Overview
Beautiful venue, lovely grounds recently revamped castle, lower floor only open to public, but a lot of thought to accessibility put into restructure. Accessible bar, cafe , souvenir shop , and Museum nan Eilean on site as well as public rooms. Several accessible toilets. Access free. Opportunity to see the famous 'Lewis Chessmen' fold away stools, mid height provided in some areas of museum.
Transport & Parking
Plenty allocated disabled parking near entrance. Tarmacadam surface
Access
Good disabled access, no steps, full wheelchair access. Quite a long walk to museum and cafe for those with restricted mobility
Toilets
Toilets not well signposted, and corridor a bit narrow , but toilets clean modern, with plenty of room to manoevere wheelchair, more than one accessible toilet available
Staff
All staff were friendly, approachable and helpful
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Would definitely recommend for a day out, only thing would suggest, would be some seating spaced throughout the venue to allow those with restricted mobility to rest Liked the fold away stools so much in the museum, that I want to purchase one, they're not too low or too high, perfect for those with bad hips or knees .
