Overview
A lovely park, sitting just where the river Leven meets the Clyde. Lots of green space, cared for flower beds and plants, children's playareas. The park is currently under re-generation. . . I'm interested to see the new changes. . .will need to update my review then!!
Transport & Parking
There is a free carpark just next to the park , with several marked disabled bays. Be aware, that when events are on at the Park, it can be very busy, and car-parking can be difficult. The park isn't far from the High Street/shops, and can be walked to from there (where there is also more parking available) There are buses to the High Street - I am unsure if they come closer to the Park than that. The nearest train station is Dalreoch, but this station is inaccessible if using a wheelchair. The next closest is Dumbarton Central which is accessible (though very steep ramps), and bit further away from Park.
Access
Mostly access to get round the park is good, there are wide paved paths the whole way round. Some of the hill/ramp areas may prove a little steep if self-propelling a manual chair. A couple of the paths are a little worn, but this may be about to be fixed. Although previously some accessible play equipment had been installed in the children's play park, you had to go across grass to reach this, which unfortunately made it more difficult for some to reach. The play areas are one of things getting changed in the re-generation, so this is the perfect opportunity for them to be made even more accessible.
Toilets
There currently are no toilets at all, but this may change during the re-generation.
Staff
No staff, it's a public park. However it is always clean, flowers and plants looked after, generally feels cared for.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This a popular local park, especially with families and dog-walkers. Several large events happen in the park each year Eg Pipe-Band Championships, Firework display Although most of the park can still be used at the moment, lots of re-generation work is currently happening. Will be exciting to see how it looks when this is completed in 2018
