A day at Langley castle
Visit date:
Overview
The castle ground is easily accessible for wheelchairs and individuals with walking aids as it is flat concrete surfaces throughout. There is 27 guest rooms in the castle in which 2 rooms have been designated for disabled access. The was only one lift in the building which had to be accessed through the kitchen with a memeber of staff.
Transport & Parking
There was plenty of parking on sight, however there was no disabled car parking space. This was not an issue when I visited as the car park was spacious and aloud for wheelchairs and ramps.
Access
The outside of the castle was very accessible for with flat surfaces. The castle itself did have one lift which had to be accessed through the kitchen which I think sounds quite dangerous especially when the kitchen is in use. There was only one lift in the whole castle.
Toilets
A member or staff at the castle told me that there are disabled toilets throughout the castle that are accessible, however I did not actually check this myself as I did not need to use the disabled toilet. I did read a review on trip advisor that claimed the disbanded toilet is behind heavy doors, meaning wheelchair users may need extra assistance of a family member or friend. The individual also stated that the toilets are smaller than your average disabled toilet.
Staff
Very friendly and approachable. There is plenty of staff around the castle. This is good to know if a memeber of staff is needed to access the lift.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would defiantly recommend this castle as it is a lovely day out. From outside the castle to the inside it is full of beautiful views. I visited the castle for a wedding. There are a few flights of steep steps that can be quite difficult to walk up and down, I would Reccomemd that the castle fitted a second lift that was not in the kitchen. The lift should be able to be accessed by the disabled individual without staff assistance as this may make the individual feel that they keep interrupting members of staff .
