Overview
Residential area for adults with physical and mental disabilities partake in indoor and outdoor activities.
Transport & Parking
There is a car park and has access from the main road. Calvert Trust also have transport facilities and transport the residents around during their week for the activities. The car park isn't a large car park if every resident wanted to stay the week it would be very full.
Access
Access to every accommodation building, reception, kitchen/dining room has a wheelchair access ramp and the corridors are wide enough for a powered wheelchair. Every start of the week with new residents thee is a tour with a group of five people around Calvert Trust's campus.
Toilets
Every toilet in the main areas are disabled and there are 3 around the reception and the dining room/kitchen. In the bedrooms the bedrooms have walk in showers with a shower seat and rail with assistance around the toilet too including an alarm string in case there was no carer present.
Staff
Every member of staff helps the residents to settle in if they need it and all volunteers are assigned to an individual to spend the week with answering questions and queries and making sure they are appropriately dressed for the activity ahead. The staff also made sure that the volunteers were comfortable and happy daily reassuring me that if there was a concern to just talk to them without any worry.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The week was full of amazing experiences and people, at the end of the week there is a disco/party that brings everyone from every group together and have fun, adding an exciting end to their week at Calvert Trust. The activities that the residents took part in are completely unique. This is an experience that I will volunteer at again for sure.
