5-day classical music festival
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Assistance Dog - Visual, Long Cane, Wheelchair, Powerchair
Overview
All musical events take place in a single location, the easy of access "Cité internationale des congrès". The concerts last about an hour each and are rather cheap (up to € 20). There are places dedicated to wheelchairs, I also saw a woman with an assistance dog at one of the most prestigious concerts. I can also walk with support, when needed.
Transport & Parking
Personally, I was in Nantes without a car, I stayed at the nearby Novotel (30 metres from the wheelchair entrance), equipped with rooms for disabled persons. At the moment, the bathrooms have bathtubs, which means I needed a strong man's help to get in and out. Make sure you reserve well ahead of time (several months) !
Access
The "Cité internationale des congrès" has an auditorium (I do not recommend the 2nd balcony with a cane; I did it but came out of it rather dizzy...) and several smaller modern concert halls. There are elevators and access to wheelchairs everywhere in the building.
Toilets
I never got a chance to use them, since we went back to he hotel for a rest between the concerts...
Staff
Very competent and motivated staff. As often, I felt like a V.I.P. in my wheelchair.
