Level access Kwit Fit garage that is located outwith the city centre of Dundee where customers with Mobility cars can visit.

Transport & Parking

Of course visitors who are going to Kwit Fit would usually have their car because that’s why they’d be visiting however, some people might need to take public transport to collect their car. There are car park spaces right outside the front of Kwit Fit. These are not lined so there aren’t any designated accessible spaces but, there is enough space fot wheelchair users to get into their cars. In regards to public transport, there are bus stops nearby however, I’m not sure where they travel to. They go into the city centre of Dundee I’m sure but I don’t know about whereelse. When I had to pick up my car I got a taxi and there was enough space for them to drop you off and help a wheelchair user out of the car.

Access

To get into the reception and customer waiting area there is a slight concrete ramp but, I would say it’s manageable to get up. The only issue I had was because I don’t have much upper body strength, I needed someone to support my chest when I was leaving. Also the door to enter the reception/waiting area isn’t automatic so with the combination of the ramp and not being automatic some customers might struggle. Having a bell outside the door might help alert staff that someone needs assistance, although the door does have glass panels and you could try get someone's attention in the garage area. The desk at reception is at a good height for wheelchair users if you need to sign for something and if chairs are moved in the waiting area, there’s plenty of space for a wheelchair user.

Toilets

I couldn’t see any toilets at the Kwit Fit waiting area so I cannot comment on them but, I don’t think there were any.

Staff

All the staff at Kwit Fit were extremely helpful and always spoke to me instead of my carer. When we arrived staff moved chairs in the waiting room to make sure there was enough room for me to have space in my wheelchair.
