Overview

Kulturpark Glashütte Buhlbach is a museum on the site of the largest glassworks in the Black Forest in the 18th and 19th Centuries. There are illustrated displays (in German only) that explain the history of Glassblowing in the area and the museum has a collection of examples of hand-crafted glassware through the ages. There is a video on a large screen showing modern day glassblowing. The site is fully wheelchair accessible and has a disabled toilet.

Transport & Parking

There is a small carpark with two disabled spaces right by the entrances. There are also wheelchair accessible buses that go from Baiersbronn.

Access

Most of the museum is in an historic building, which means that access is not the easiest. The main entrance had a couple of steps up to it, but there is a gate that can be opened by a member of staff to allow access to the site and the alternative entrance to the ground floor. The upper floor can be reached by a fairly steep and narrow earth path going round the outside of the building. Again, you will need a member of staff to open the upper door for you. The cafe, situated in another building, is more modern and has easy, level access. The paths are made of gravel.

Toilets

The disabled toilet was quite large and clean (the marks on the floor on the photos were worn away paint). There were grab bars, an emergency cord and a mirror that could be adjusted with a handle.
