Great food with good access and lovely staff

Overview

Had a lovely experience here, with attentive and considerate staff, accessible space and great food and cocktails.

Transport & Parking

Taxi dropped off right outside. My pal got the bus and tells me that there's a stop very close to the restaurant - she got the 16.

Access

4

A slight lip at the (wide) front door (maybe less than half an inch), but nothing that the scooter couldn't handle. A wheelchair would manage it fine. The door opens outwards, which can be a pain if you're solo, but luckily for me I wasn't. The restaurant has different levels, with entry level having lots of high tables with high seats - at which point my heart sank - but Harry led us round to an area which has standard height tables and chairs with banquette seating around the wall. A reasonable amount of room to manoeuvre, and tables quite simply set up - so not full of stuff to knock over!

Toilets

Pretty good. Almost opposite the front door (so the feng shui might be lacking!). Nice wide door, twist lock easy enough to engage even with reduced dexterity. Lots of room, and certainly on my visit it wasn't being used as an extra storage space. Lowered sink (lovely soap!), paper towels so no need to navigate to a hand dryer when you have wet hands. Lots of grab rails. They don't state on the website that they have an accessible loo, which is why I'm docking them half a star.

Staff

Harry answered my initial email (checking that they had an accessible loo) very quickly. On the night he and his colleagues were all friendly, and attentive but unobtrusive. Great suggestions (I'm not going to argue with anyone who suggests that I order the chips!).

Anything else you wish to tell us?

We had the brandade, the pork scratchings (a million miles away from the sad things in packets - more like a prawn cracker with the prawn swapped for essence of pig), courgette flower tempura, fried chicken, artichoke, wagyu beef pappardelle. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and much posher than you might assume from the menu. Oh and tremendous cocktails, each in a different style of glass.
