Overview

A lovely place to visit. Would be 5 stars but for some cobbled streets, some bumpy pavements and tram tracks when crossing roads.

Transport & Parking

Can't comment on parking. Köpenick S-bahn station (accessible) is 1.8 km from the historic centre. The S-bahn station at Spindlersfeld (line S47) is just under 1km & is also accessible. From there it's a level wheel/walk to the Already (apart from the slope up to the bridge) or Tram 61 or Tram 63 to Schlossplatz.

Access

Generally good. We saw power chair users whizzing over tram tracks & cobbles. The gardens of the Schloss are fully wheelchair accessible, as is the promenade along the river, which leads to a pleasant riverside walk (gravel, paving-stones, occasional cobbles) with several accessible routes back into the historic centre.

Toilets

There is a radar key loo on the waterfront near the entrance to the Schloss - €0.50 if you don't have a Eurokey. Heavy door opening outwards. Spacious, sensible grab rails. No paper towels when we visited & loo paper hard to reach from the loo. One alarm button low down near the loo.

The Schloss has a cafe (it was shut today) & is a museum of Applied Arts. We didn't go in, but we did observe that, since our last visit, an accessible entrance with a lift which appears to access all levels has been built. There are plenty of cafes & restaurants. We picnicked on the promenade and enjoyed coffee at Die Mokkafee in Grünstraße - we sat at a pavement table as there are steps at the entrance.
