Overview
we had dinner here while visiting family in the area. I had contacted the hotel via email, about access for wheelchair users and to explain about my allergies. They told us we would be most welcome to eat in the farmers arms which is a pub in the grounds of the hotel . Plus they were more than happy to do their best to meet my allergy requirements. We booked a table for a party of 6 people. Access was easy into the pub although the disabled parking bays are a little way from the main entrance . There is a slope up into the pub ,but once inside it’s nearly all on one level we were seated in the conservatory area. Where there was enough room for me to access the table in my wheelchair. The choice on the menu was very good , one of our party was vegetarian and she had quite a choice. We ordered the sharing platter for staters which was more than enough for 6 people and catered for all our requirements, all our meals were well cooked and presented and they meet my allergy needs advising where needed about ingredients. All the staff were helpful . We would certainly visit again when in the area.
Transport & Parking
Disabled parking by the pub is a short distance from the entrance but there are lower erbs and slopes up from the car park to the pavement and outside eating area.
Access
Access was easy it’s nearly all on one level once inside there are slopes and lower kerbs from the car park. There was enough room for me to get around both the bar area and conservatory, tables were reasonably spaced apart.
Toilets
The only problem here was that the disabled toilet is accessed through the ladies . Not ideal given my husband needed to come with me to assist me . he asked the staff and they were happy for him to go into the ladies and help me. The toilet had quite a bit of room for my wheelchair and there were grab rails plus a lower sink, soap dispenser and hand dryer. Although not as roomy as other disabled toilets but big enough.
Staff
All the staff were helpful and he chef fully understood about my allergies and was able to inform the waiting staff what Ingredients were used when we asked.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
They had one hand sanitizer on the bar for guests to use . Tables had plenty of space between them , so I felt quite happy.
