Overview

Newly refurbished with a lot of thought given to accessibility, much needed in the highlands, as it can be difficult to get good accessible accommodation. All public areas accessible, although the main restaurant has to be accessed through a large public bar, so some distance for those with mobility restrictions, food can be obtained in the bar and the Old part of the Inn. ( Way Inn).Bedrooms and Way Inn accessed through a narrow lift, larger power chairs may struggle. Accessible rooms are located near lifts.Plenty of seating of various heights in all public areas, to enable resting. I loved the views, the bedrooms were well equipped for accessibility and roomy. They were also not charged at an extra rate as in some hotels. There were minor imperfections in the accessible rooms, see extra comments, but they could be addressed , as hotel has only been open 6 months. Staff were friendly and helpful, and if they saw me without my companion, I was always asked if I required any help. A bit pricey, but my first holiday in 2 years, and was happy to pay for peace of mind. Food was good, although I thought the menu was quite restrictive. Well stocked bar, especially of whisky. I was brought up in the area and it was an ideal base for catching up with family in Argyll. I would definitely visit again The friendly staff , friendly deer just outside the door, and the magnificent views made it special, but most of all knowing I could have a stress free break in truly accessible accommodation.

Transport & Parking

5

We arrived by car,but there is a public bus service drops off at the road end, a good 3/4 mile away, however the hotel picks up walkers and hikers, and transports them and luggage to next drop off points on West Highland Way, so it may be possible to arrange being met at the road end. Several Dedicated disabled parking near entrance to hotel. Might still be a bit far for those with mobility restrictions. Slight slope to negotiate down to main door.

Access

4.5

Stairs to rooms, and Old part of hotel, but these are accessed via lift as previously mentioned, was quite narrow, otherwise everywhere flat. Signage could have been better, but there was always someone available to request help, or ask directions Did not notice any induction loops, but Braille assistance panel in bathrooms. As previously mentioned plenty seating throughout public areas, but none when exiting lifts, would recommend requesting a room near lifts for mobility problems, as corridors very long

Toilets

5

Accessible toilet in reception area, modern, clean and fresh, plenty of grab rails, plenty of room for turning with wheelchair, lightweight sliding door, emergency assistance cord in place. However signposting could be clearer, sign is quite high up and is intergrated into wooden decor.

Staff

Staff very friendly, always offering to help without being over the top. Table service available in the bar. Moved furniture as necessary to accommodate my wheelchair. Breakfast was buffet style, and I was immediately offered help to choose my breakfast. Meals and drinks were table service.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff despite the hotel being very busy.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Accessible bedrooms Plenty of room to manoeuvre wheelchair in bedroom, I found it a bit tight with bathroom door shut to transfer from chair to toilet. Bathroom fully equipped with wet room shower, shower seat and grab rails. Low height mirrors, hooks on door, sink etc. Shower area could do with a shelf to put your toiletries on, and bathroom floods when using the shower! I reported this, and they advised it was a design fault that they hoped to rectify, as they had only been open 6 months Mattress height 25 inches , reasonably firm mattress, this suited me as some accessible rooms, beds are too low for me. 2 large single beds, plenty of room to manoeuvre around room and to access bed .There would be no room for putting feet of a hoist under bed. Light switches and sockets at an accessible height, sockets beside bed. Make sure you ask for 2 room keys, one has to be slotted into holder for electricity to function, I ended up sitting in the dark when my companion had to fetch something from car Emergency assistance cord in bedroom and bathroom. Tea and coffee tray accessible Large TV screen on wall operated by remote Only issue was with facilities for hanging clothes, no wardrobe as such, just a large shelf unit which wasn’t accessible, and coat hooks that were too high to reach, other than hooks on bathroom door
