Overview
The Kings Lynn Art Centre is a great tourist destination displaying fantastic art work by local artists. The Art Centre is situated in the centre of town and all galleries are wheelchair accessible.
Transport & Parking
The Art Centre itself does not provide parking facilities however a short walk away (200m) on the Tuesday Market Place there are disabled parking spaces available.
Access
There are two entrances to the art centre. The first is through two double doors into the reception, although these doors are not automatic so for a wheelchair user on their own this could be difficult. You can also enter via two large green gates to the left of the entrance to reception. This would be the easier entrance for a wheelchair user however there is a small cobbled area in the entrance about 5 metres long before the concrete becomes smooth.
Toilets
One thing I could fault about the art centre was that there was no toilet accessible to wheelchair users. The toilets available had very narrow entrances and the cubicles were also extremely narrow.
Staff
Staff are very friendly and are delighted to see new visitors in the galleries. They are very helpful and I could not fault them in any way.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The galleries all had ramps for wheelchair users and were very spacious inside. There was also a cafe within the Shakespeare Barn that would be accessible to wheelchair users. Towards the back of the Art Centre is a riverside restaurant however this is only accessible by steps. There is also a Wetherspoons restaurant, The Globe situated next door that is wheelchair friendly and also has suitable toilet facilities.
