Overview
I am a wheelchair user and I travel often into Kings across from the north of England. I usually book Assistance in advance to ensure a wheelchair space on the train and there is always someone waiting with the ramp on the platform at KC. The loos are good (and free for disabled) and access to taxis is fine. On arriving at kings cross there is a customer information desk with one low desk! And everyone has always been brilliant, accompanying me from there to the appropriate platform, carrying luggage etc. Can't fault Kings Cross at all. If you are travelling alone don't worry!
Transport & Parking
The taxis are just outside the station easily accessible. I have never used buses.
Access
The concourse is big and flat, all shops and restaurants accessible and happy to help when needed. The upstairs area is accessed by a lift which is easy to use ( I'm scared of lifts!) and my wheelchair fitted in easily with other people too.
Toilets
I think there are possibly three disabled loos, definitely two. You just wait at the gate and the attendant lets you in free ( walking people have to pay haha). The loo cubicle is huge and the toilet a usual height with handrails both sides. I'm not great at transferring and it's fine. Door ok too - not quite as heavy as some. It's probably worth adding also that the lighting in the toilets is really bright too - ideal for me as I catheter!.
Staff
All brilliant every time I've travelled - will take you to train, wait with you, push wheelchair if needed and carry luggage. Nothing too much trouble.
