Overview
Can be a nightmare if you are in the wrong place as a wheelchair user.
Transport & Parking
There are a handful of blue badge space in each car park but you need to know which platform your train is going from to make sure you park in the correct place and avoid a hilly walk between them
Access
There are four platforms at Kilwinning station. Platform 1 is for trains to Glasgow (arriving from Ardrossan / Largs). It has its own carpark which is accessed from Ashgrove Road. There is a bridge (steps, no lift) to get to the ticket office, though there is a ticket machine on platform 1 Platform 2 (for trains to Ardrossan and Largs from Glasgow) and Platform 3 (for trains to Glasgow from Ayr) other) are accessible from the main station carpark. The ticket office has good access too. Platform 4 (for trains to Ayr from Glasgow) is accessed via steep path directly from the main road, Townhead. There is no parking at the top of the hill so you need to go along the main road and back down the hill to the main carpark. Otherwise there is another bridge (steps, no lift) to get from platform 4 to the ticket office. So, important to know which platform you need before you park to travel or collect someone.
Toilets
Good sized toilet in ticket office area, key is kept with staff in ticket office itself. Although accessible it is the only toilet so used by everyone. Not the cleanest! And refer to the access information to know if you'll even be able to get to it!
Staff
Depends who you get!
