Overview
Kettle's Yard has just reopened and is a fab art gallery with an interesting history! It's located in a 'house' near the centre of Cambridge and there's free entry - you just have to get a timed ticket when you get to the reception desk when you arrive. We only visited the cafe as it was a busy day and we didn't have time to stay - but will definitely be back! Please note - it is an historic building and some of the areas may not be accessible to wheelchair users.
Transport & Parking
We stumbled across it when looking for something to eat - we'd parked in the nearby Park Street car park which has several blue badge parking spaces.
Access
The cafe was fine. The entrance to Kettle's Yard was up a wide slope and there was a large automatic entrance door. The cafe was located just inside and has a lower section which is on the same level. The counter and the rest of the seating was up 3 steps - this was fine for us though and whilst you order at the counter the staff bring your food to your table. We didn't get a chance to look around the exhibitions and since the visit we've checked out the website which says that only some parts of the house are accessible to wheelchair users. It's a really useful access page which tells you which bits are and which bits aren't - and also that if you call in advance the staff are able to put a ramp out to make the downstairs area accessible. They also have a virtual tour of the house which can be found here http://www.kettlesyard.co.uk/visit/access/ http://www.kettlesyard.co.uk/collection/the-house/
Toilets
The accessible loo was well signposted but we didn't visit them.
Staff
