Overview
This race course isn't particularly wheelchair accessible but it is doable......it's a lovely setting but the buildings are in need of an upgrade.
Transport & Parking
We drove. There are parking spaces in a field and the blue badge parking is over grass and pathway which very close to the entrance. You can travel by train to Tweedbank from Edinburgh and I believe there is direct transport to the racecourse from the station but I am unsure as to how accessible the transport is.
Access
There are 2 platforms for viewing the races, there is no access to anything other than ground floor bar and charity coffee shop as there are no lifts. You can easily view the pre race paddock.......there is very little signage throughout the racecourse.
Toilets
According to the venue map there is a disabled Loo in the Tweedie Stand. There is no signage and we did not find it. There are steps up to the standard toilet which makes them inaccessible to wheelchair users. See photo.
Staff
Staff were friendly although not always knowledgeable. When we asked a staff member were there any disabled loos she did not know.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
It does offer an enjoyable afternoon out but it isn't hugely accessible and probably best to have several others with you to help out where necessary. The viewing platform in the members enclosure offers a little overhead shelter. Both the disabled person and a carer are only charged half price for entrance to enclosure .....£10 each instead of £20 per person.
