Overview
Great access for wheelchair users and considering the age and location of the premises this is no small feat. There is a great level surface pathway going through the cobled stones and this is all he way from the car park to he main museum and the cafe and other units. There is evidence of information and such like or people with sensory impairments. For example there were tactile guides and maps and the staff were fantastic and were knowledgeable about the additional needs of disabled customers. The toilet was accessible and could be used independently.
Transport & Parking
There are regular bus services servicing Kelham Island area and it seems a short minimum walking distance from the bus stop. There is no marked dropping off point but there are safe places to drop off near the venue. Plenty parking places and they don't need to be booked in advance.
Access
The facilities were very good for disabled visitors. There were seats available for mobility impaired there was a portable induction loop, The lift had braille and tactile markings. The main entrance has automatic doors while the entrance to other parts have other more difficult doors, but easy sloped access to get in.
Toilets
The toilet was located easily enough. It had grab rails and could be used independently by some wheelchair users.
Staff
All brilliant and very knowledgeable.
