Friendly cafe inside science library
Visit date:
Overview
A bright and airy cafe beneath the science library in King's Buildings. It's a modern building, and thought has been put into access throughout. The cafe is particularly spacious and comfortable.
Transport & Parking
Tucked inside the university's science campus, the library is close to a car park. It is around a ten minute walking distance from Lothian Bus Stops, and around five minutes from the university shuttle bus (also an accessible Lothian Bus - but beware this service can get very busy during term times).
Access
Push pad automatic doors lead into a wide, smooth floored, level access room. There are massive windows which make the whole place very bright. Food and coffee is by self service, but I don't remember seeing any trays to carry lots of items. Most of the tables are benches which makes seating choice for wheelchair users a little limited, but the comfy seats with coffee tables by the windows are all easy to rearrange.
Toilets
Right beside the cafe, clearly signed, very clean, bright and spacious.
Staff
Friendly staff, both in the cafe and at the security desk by the door.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There is even more seating out of the library and through towards the shop in the adjacent part of the building. It can be a little cold out there though, and the furniture a bit heavy to move. But there is a greater choice of hot food in the cafe out there.
