Venue Manager responded to this review
Jorvik Viking Centre is an underground museum and as such we are only permitted to admit one wheelchair user into the building at any time. Our bookings advisers and website recommend that you book ahead if you are a wheelchair user wanting to visit the centre as we are limited as to how many we can accommodate in one day. The Jorvik Viking Centre features a ride that takes visitors around the re-constructed Viking city of Jorvik and one of the capsules on this ride has been adapted to accommodate a wheelchair. Due to the nature of the ride and the limited space available this capsule can only take wheelchairs of a standard size, so larger powered wheelchairs may not fit onto the capsule. Our admissions and technical team will advise you upon entry if your wheelchair is the correct size. If your wheelchair is too big to fit in the capsule space, we have a standard wheelchair that we can provide to you if you are able to transfer to it. There is a lift in and out of the building and all the galleries are one level, so wheelchair users should be able to move through the rest of the centre with ease.
