A Brilliant Viking Museum with excellent exhibits.
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Powerchair, Mobility Scooter
Overview
Accessibility is first class and wheelchairs are welcomed as there is a special car which is attached to the regular travel car which means the wheelchair user can remain in their wheelchair if they wish. Booking is essential to ensure that there is a special car available. The exhibits can also be enjoyed as there is a lift to all floors.
Transport & Parking
I used the train to York and then we walked to the Jorvik Museum. Taxis are available at York Station but I have experienced parking problems in the city before so I always use a taxi if possible.
Access
Accessibility is first class to all floors to see the exhibits. There are also steps if one is able to use them. Signage is excellent and one is able to see all the exhibits. There are seats so you can take a rest.
Toilets
I did not use the toilets, but if you ring the museum the staff are very helpful and will be pleased to advise you.
Staff
All staff were helpful and the service was first class, particularly the staff who load the travel cars.
