Overview
I planned this visit mainly for my husband's benefit, as he is into motorsports and especially F1, however, I actually really enjoyed it. Jim Clark's story is interesting and quite moving, and I particularly related to his mum and her not wanting him to race because of the dangers involved. From an accessibility perspective, this has been one of the most accessible museums we have ever visited.
Transport & Parking
We arrived by motorhome, which kind of complicated the parking a little, but there were 2 blue badge spaces right outside. We parked a little further down the road and it only took a few minutes to get there.
Access
There is a ramp upto the main entrance and the main doors are automatic. The whole museum is on one level so it is quite easy to get around. The museum felt very spacious, light and clean. The displays were at a lower level, allowing easy reading from a wheelchair. The video area had a rear long bench and a shorter front bench, allowing wheelchair space at the end.
Toilets
The accessible toilet was well signposted and easy to get into. It was spotlessly clean and there was enough room for me in my chair and my assistance dog. Rails were clean and secure and the red cord hanging loose.
Staff
The man on the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We chatted for a bit about the museum and he welcomed my assistance dog. I paid adult price and my husband went free as a carer.
