Overview
There are two slopes into the museum, admittedly the longer route was less of a slope, but both manageable. The door worked automatically. The layout of the museum worked well for me in a wheelchair, with the display easy to view. Further details below
Transport & Parking
Only living 14 miles away, we just drove to the museum. I envisage it is not the easiest of places to visit using buses. There are two disabled parking bays at the front of the museum, with a drop down kerb to the pavement
Access
From parking, there is a choice of two ramped paths. Both quite managable but the longer on more so. The door worked automatically. Once inside, everything was on one level and easy to get around. The reception desk has a lower section for visitors that require it. I did not take notice aids highlighted such as induction loops but this is not to say other formats were not available.
Toilets
The loos were well signposted, easy to access with the required handrails both at the loo and sink (I cant remember if there was a 'red cord') Lot of room to turn the wheelchair about and for transfer. Baby Changing facilities were also available. With it being a new build, I suppose this is to be expected and it was all there
Staff
The person on reception was friendly. I know the concession rate was only 50 pence less thn normal, but it was not offered despite me being in the wheelchair. lovely guy, Calum Entwistle, took time out on a few occasions to tell us about the displays and was very knowledgeable about Jim Clark
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Having visited the original museum, and even remembers visiting the graveside of Jim a few days after his burial, I was really kean to make this visit. I really liked the 'information tablets' that ran on a rail in front of the vast number of trophies on display, giving further information and videos. There was a small area at which one could watch some short videos, about Jim Clark, his life, races and his ultimate death. http://jimclarktrust.com/jim-clark-motorsport-museum/
