Overview

'Nests' was a play performed as part of The Findhorn Bay Festival; written by Xana Marwick, the play explored issues around how young people are failed by society. It was a fantastic play and the acting was amazing, we all really enjoyed it. I was concerned about access to this venue as it's an older building but the festival director sent details of the building's access beforehand and she was really helpful. There was no raised stage area but I was given a seat at the front row with an unrestricted view.

Transport & Parking

4

There was no vacant disabled parking area but as it is a small village, we were able to park on the quayside at the back of the hall. There are buses to Findhorn via Forres from Inverness, apparently some are accessible but I was unable to verify this.

Access

4

The building was like an old church hall but it was reasonably accessible; it was easier to enter via the front entrance with a one inch step rather than the ramped entrance which had a very tight turn. The front entrance was manageable and the staff were very helpful and ensured I was happy with my view etc.

Toilets

3.5

The toilet is accessible, clean and basic; there is no emergency cord but it is spacious and there are grab rails. It is also used as a baby-changing facility and it stored a mop and bucket which could be a problem for some people with mobility problems.

Staff

5

The staff were fantastic and could not have done more to help or make me feel welcome, even walking me to my car after the performance and keeping an eye on my ventilator whilst my dad sorted out the car!

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I would definitely recommend a visit to this venue and would return to see other performances there.
