Overview

The entrance to the reception and shop has double doors. The shop has ample space to manoeuvre. at reception a mobility scooter can be requested. There is another building across the car park that houses the cafe/restaurant. The gardens, have dirt gravel paths, which are on different levels as they are located on a hillside with beautiful views. There are guide maps that show the accessible routes although I found some of the accessible paths a little too steep coming down in my powered chair as it kept sliding.

Transport & Parking

3

Plenty parking and accessible spaces.

Access

3

Easy access into the main building. The gardens have a dirt gravel path and even the so called accessible route my powered wheelchair had issues coming down as they were slightly too steep and my chair kept sliding so didn't see as much of the gardens as I would have liked. The accessible toilet in the main building was not accessible for me but there is a more accessible one in the restaurant building across the car park.

Toilets

3

The accessible toilets in the main reception/shop were very poor as they were difficult to negotiate to get in, then once there, I was unable to get my chair in. The accessible toilet in the restaurant was adequate.

Staff

5

Although having difficulties accessing the building (see Anything Else section) all staff were very friendly and went that extra mile to help me.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

To get into the accessible toilet in the main building I had to open a door whilst turning immediate left and at the same time had to open the toilet door out meaning I had to reverse back out to the shop. Once I got the door open I found it was too tight to turn my wheelchair into it and also found that even if I had been able to my chair would not have fitted in the toilet. I had issues getting to the restaurant as work was being done to the accessible path. There was an alternate path signposted but when I got there, there was a kerb to negotiate which I was unable to get up.
