Overview

This review relates to the EV Charging at this location. We all know what IKEA is and what IKEA do, flatpack furniture, cosy candles and mandatory meatballs. Lately, they've paired up with Gridserve to install EV Charging at many of their UK stores. There are two EV Charging Spaces at this location, with three charging options. CHAdeMO, CCS and Type 2.

Transport & Parking

5

On the grounds of the IKEA at Braehead, there are over 1200 parking spaces! Braehead Shopping Centre is nearby. as are several furniture stores, Currys, McDonald's and Sainsbury's with an attached Starbucks There is a bus stop outside of the car park where the following services stop and pick up: 23, 23A, 23P, 26, 77 and 90

Access

4.5

I've awarded my first 4.5 for EV charging to this location, mostly for the fact that the spaces at the EV Charger are huge! They've removed 4 single spaces to make 2 double-sized charging spaces, meaning you can leave your car without worrying you'll be boxed in by the next person who comes along to charge their car. The EV Chargers are side-on, rather than to the front or back of your car. They are elevated on the pavements and set a few inches back. The charging cables and DC port are all on the front of the machine, as is the card reader. The cables are supported by threads, which take much of the weight of the cables, further supporting disabled users.

Toilets

There are accessible toilets inside IKEA, located at the food court on the first floor. I did not use these services on my visit, but I recall them being spacious and clean with grab rails and a red cord. They do not have radar locks, so they can be used by everyone.

Staff

There are no staff at the charging points.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The setup is impressive, but it could be improved by the charger being level with the spaces. The kerb is a little obstructive, but the cables and card reader can be reached from a sitting position.
