Overview
Had a great stay at Hotel Schani in beautiful Vienna. Fantastic location for public transport including tram stop right outside the hotel.
Transport & Parking
Hotel Schani is in a great location for public transport with Vienna’s Central Railway Station right across the street. Catching a tram, bus, train or U-Bahn (subway) is very easy from this hotel, located in the Belvedere Quarter. The tram (line D) is literally on the hotels doorstep. It will take you into the heart of Vienna city centre within 7 minutes. It was perfect! The hotel is a little bit too far from the centre to walk though, but with the public transport links being so good, you really don't have to worry about having to walk.
Access
Hotel Entrance: The path and streets outside the hotel are extremely smooth and clean as well as kerb cuts. The main entrance is completely wheelchair accessible and all level with no steps. There are automatic doors into the hotel and reception area. Reception/Lobby: There was lots of space to move around in my wheelchair. Unfortunately there wasn't a lowered check-in desk. Guests check themselves in by using the self-check in tablets. The buffet breakfast area is spacious and there is a range of tables and chairs with a lovely green garden that you can sit out in, which is also accessible. Room: Our accessible room had twin beds and although the room was lovely and modern, it was slightly on the small side. The beds were incredibly comfortable though - BEST bed I've slept in while away from home. Although the room was small, I was still able to move around in my wheelchair, but it was tighter than I'd like from an accessible room. I loved the modern features though.
Toilets
The accessible bathroom was spacious and I was able to move around easily. The sink was perfect as I was able to roll my wheelchair underneath without banging my knees. The position of the toilet was good - space on one side for wheelchair transferring. There was fold down grab bars for support. The roll-in shower also had grab bars, but unfortunately, there wasn’t a fixed shower seat or bench in the shower, but there was just a portable seat. The shower tray has the potential to be slippery, so I’d recommend you take care if standing in the shower.
Staff
The staff were helpful and friendly.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I'd definitely stay in this hotel again when I return to Vienna. I loved the feel and look for the hotel - it's very eco friendly with delicious food and good access to public transport.
