Overview

Excellent support from Jade & Mike from Disabled Access Holidays. The main thing that let this holiday down was space in the shower/toilet room. If you used a wheelchair and didn't have a shower/commode chair like us you would not get on the toilet or in the shower. Even with the shower/commode chair because it had two big wheels at the back it took a lot of time to get the chair into place to get into the shower. It would have been easier with four small wheels. We hired a bed, hoist and a shower/commode chair, but having a power wheelchair, hoist and a shower/commode chair made the bedroom very small. The rest of the hotel was very accessible and the food was first class.

Transport & Parking

Access

The access through the hotel was very good. The two lifts were a good size you drove in and backed out. The only disadvantage was the lifts didn't have a mirror on the back wall you could look through to back out.

Toilets

We didn't see a disabled toilet in the hotel where the other toilets were but I wouldn't be able to use it without a hoist anyway. The toilet in the bedroom couldn't be accessed with a hoist alone because the space wasn't in the room to use it. Going into the shower/toilet room was OK but to get out was an issue unless you backed out as the hard front casters got cough in the laminate floor trim between the tiles in the shower/toilet room and the laminate floor in the bedroom.

Staff

All the staff we had dealings with were very friendly and polite all the time. We got seated at the same table every time we ate which was a table for four. The same man was on for the week and he moved the two chairs for me and I had great room to move my wheelchair into place.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

In my opinion if you are a full time wheelchair user the room we had was not suitable. For that reason we could not use this hotel again.
