This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Powerchair
Overview
As a wheelchair user I find it very hard to find budget wheelchair friendly hotels. Though we were in a standard room I found the facilities were perfectly adequate to use with crutches and help from my husband. There was a small lip on the door and a step up to the bathroom so would not be suitable for someone who could not transfer from wheelchair.
Transport & Parking
Parking was payable even for disabled customers, which I find unacceptable as public transportation links to this hotel are not great for mobility impaired transport users.
Access
The lifts were easy to use and did not close prematurely. The halls were level access. There was a small lip on the door into the room which could be replaced by a flat threshold.
Toilets
Fine if you can use sticks but a big step for those who cannot transfer.
Staff
Staff were extremely helpful and explained the layout of the room. Though it was adequate for my needs with help, I would choose an accessible room were I to stay again. The room itself was clean and bright, everything you need for an overnight stay.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The breakfast hall was self service. Though accessible, some of the items were a little high for me to serve myself but the staff were extremely helpful. Though I have scored low in some categories I would stay again myself, but would perhaps suggest these amendments to the hotel to help wheelchair users access the facility more independently. Not everyone has a husband or carer they can rely on to help.
