Overview
I made an unplanned visit to the Botanic Gardens as I wheeled past the entrance when I was exploring the parks of the city. I went to the ticket counter and sorted out my ticket and then ventured in to explore further.
Transport & Parking
The tram line passes the main entrance and there are some lovely shaded walkways through the parks around here too.
Access
For many disabled people the Botanic Gardens will be a fabulous place to visit. It was certainly very popular as it was extremely busy when I popped by. I found the gravel pathway around most of the site to be too challenging for the small front castor wheels of my manual wheelchair. I did have a look around but it was like crossing a beach so I headed for the first glasshouse I saw in search of some good old fashioned concrete. Once inside the building it was wonderful as it was a smooth surface to wheel along. In the heat of the summer it was very hot and the thoughts of a delicious cool ice cream soon took over.
