Overview
Emsdorf is a brilliant lodge and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Accessibility is fantastic - all of the doors throughout are possible the widest I've ever seen in an accessible accommodation. Homelands have an access guide with heaps of detail which I found really helpful before my visit, and it was great to be able to select some specialist equipment before our visit such as the shower chair/trolley options. I stayed at Emsdorf to put together a video, blog and social media review- socials @wheelybraw. I highly recommend a stay here!
Transport & Parking
We drove. There are two parking spaces for each lodge, including one right outside the door on a paved driveway.
Access
Hall: Huge hall with plenty of space to store and charge a scooter. Kitchen: I loved the wheel-under breakfast bar/food prep area and the hideaway oven door Living area: The huge patio doors leading out the paved patio area are fantastic. Bedroom: Both beds were very comfortable. The wheelchair-user height clothes rail in the wardrobe was very much appreciated. I don't currently use a hoist but it was great to see the ceiling tracking hoist. Bathroom: The wetroom bathroom is huge! Has a hoist, several options for shower seating, and I loved that the grab rails were chrome - definitely more stylish than others I've seen. There's also another separate accessible toilet downstairs! I did find the sink a little low.
Toilets
As above!
Staff
We met Kim the general manager who was very approachable and friendly. She's so passionate about what they do at Homelands, and has clearly built a rapport with many of their regular guests. Don't hesitate to ask the team any questions you have, or to let them know if you need anything.
