This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Hearing Aid, Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Mobility Scooter
Overview
Visited in June for a "recce" before my son's wedding in July - so two visits. Good parking, level access and level throughout. Wide aisles and gangways - room to manoeuvre. Wide, comfortable chairs spaced with leg room. Disabled toilet in addition to ladies and gents. The vicar tells me that there is a hearing loop but we didn't check it out. My dad who wears hearing aids was with us but doesn't tune into loops, preferring to soldier on!! For the wedding, the visit included my husband who was using a manual wheelchair and a walking stick and my brother, who is currently using a stick or a wheeled walking frame
Transport & Parking
We travelled by private car and used one of two designated disabled spaces. Nice and wide. The church is in the town centre so presumably public transport is good but the church is actually up quite a steep hill from the main through roads: on our June visit I assessed the slope and didn't think that my husband's mobility scooter would cope with the gradient, so was immensely relieved to find the car park directly outside the church. The surfaces from the car park to the church are good and also level
Access
For most occasions, you would expect to be using only the ground floor of the church. There are galleries on both sides of the church which are accessed by stairs: there is no lift. The ground floor of the church is level throughout (the original entrance has steps but is not in general use, only for the grand entrance of the bride)
Toilets
The disabled loo was easy enough to find but I have no further details
Staff
The vicar and his team were very helpful.
