Overview
I only stayed one night but from booking to staying I was so happy with it. When I booked I said I needed a twin, wheelchair-accessible room but they said all the accessible rooms had double beds. I explained that I travel with a carer (this time male) and asked if anything could be done as I can’t share a bed with my carer. They gave us the adjoining room complimentary which was perfect! I’ve stayed in many IHG hotels and the accessible room was the biggest I’ve stayed in with lots of room for my powerchair.
Transport & Parking
We parked our WAV in one of the disabled bays right at the door. Parking is free.
Access
Entry is through a large open double door, there are two lifts and stairs. The lifts are very narrow, a very wide wheelchair may not fit through. My electric wheelchair is long but not wide so I *just* fit in. I got the lift up to level 2 to check in, the desk is very high and it would have been hard to reach had I been in my manual wheelchair but it was ok and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I got the lift to the 7th floor to my room and it was easy to get to. The bedroom itself had great ease of access, space to turn, space next to the bed for the wheelchair. It was very easy to get around in.
Toilets
The bathroom was large, the sink was at a good height, there was space for a turning circle and handles for transferring. There was a bath with shower and a bath board which is great if you want to sit and have a shower if getting in and out of the bath would be difficult. The bathroom was very clean too- always good!
Staff
The staff I saw and spoke to on the phone were really nice and helpful
