Very good for an emergency stop - or if going to Gatwick airport

Overview
We were unable to stay in the hotel we'd booked in Eastbourne (Wheelchair inaccessible), and at 7:30pm urgently needed accommodation. Found Holiday Inn, near Gatwick, and were able to book immediately on-line, specifying a disabled (wheelchair accessible) room. There were pictures of the bathroom on-line, so we could ascertain that it was what we needed. The directions from the M23 motorway were very easy to follow - even in the dark, and with two exhausted travelers. The hotel has a bar, which closes at 11pm - unfortunately we arrived too late. Don't know if the hotel has a restaurant or bar food, but the breakfast is quite good. The room we were in was a long way from reception, which might be a problem for walking-disabled persons. We believe there are other rooms closer in. The bed was high - and I had difficulties getting in from the wheelchair using a banana board. Did eventually make it though. Previously, I had really liked a raised bed, but this time it did not help. The toilet has grab rails on both sides. The shower is roll-in, and has a well-sized seat - but no grab rails. There is also nowhere to put your soap, shampoo etc. As we were only staying one night before heading home, the shower was not important for us this time. A warning though - the bathroom floor is very smooth and slippery. The mirror is not positioned for wheelchair users - I could only see my forehead, but there is another shaving mirror that is OK. Breakfast is good - all the usual hot and cold foods, with fresh fruit salad. To get to the breakfast room avoiding stairs, you need to get the staff to show the way - nice easy slopes, but a long way if walking. We might have had problems if staying any length of time - but it was a Godsend in an emergency.
Transport & Parking
There are supposed to be some disabled parking places, but all were full by the time we got there - my husband did find a space though, and there is a drop off-pick up area by reception. Regular shuttle bus to Gatwick airport. Instructions for arriving by car from M23 on the website - very clear.
Access
Wheelchair accessible.
Toilets
only saw toilet in room - grab rails on both sides, plenty of space, but shiny, slippery floor.
